Taxonomy Versioning

Phase II – Demonstration

One aim of phase II is the enhancement of the Diffing Reporter to a Versioning Reporter, which compares and documents changes between two consecutive released versions of a taxonomy. The Versioning Reporter is build with the criteria defined on the Design Issues page.

The purpose of the Versioning Reporter is to create a versioning linkbase, which can be visualised or built upon for later phase versioning development.

To get to the versioning linkbase or the changelog, the user has to provide the Versioning Reporter two zipped taxonomy versions and some additional information relating to changes amde. The user will be guided through a step based interface. Here are the steps:

  1. Create diffing linkbase
    1. Upload taxonomy files
    2. Select for both taxonomies a starting point of the dts discovery (Click here for more information about DTS )
    3. Define a namespace mapping between the two taxonomies to define equal concepts like those defined in Design Issues
  2. 2. Create an enhanced diffing linkbase: defining renamed-, merged- and split concepts.
  3. Comment and type the changes

To keep it as simple as possible, a showcase demonstration is available. Click here to see the steps for creating a versioning linkbase between IFRS-GP (2006) Final and IFRS-GP (2007) Final:

Click here to create a versioning linkbase between two user defined taxonomies. If you do not have two taxonomy versions, you may use the following:

- 2006-02-01.zip

- 2007-02-01.zip

Hint: The uploaded taxonomies have to be XBRL 2.1 compliant and compliant on all label rules in FRTA. In addition to these restrictions,  all resources of linkbases need to have unique id attributes. Labels are only presented in English at the moment.
